This work is the accumulation of a full day of workshops in response to provocations facilitated by ECA and led by Sonia Boyce as a follow on to Sonia’s Carnegie Lecture. An investigation and exploration of power structures and how they are made evident and perpetuated through the physical spaces we inhabit, including a response to how architecture, design and artworks are used to to convey an idea of status and prestige. The symposium was set across two of Edinburgh University’s spaces; the Raeburn Room and ECA staffroom.
